SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY
The Rebar Foreman/Supervisor/Engineer is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end processing and installation of reinforcement steel and formwork systems. This role ensures strict adherence to quality standards and technical specifications during cutting, bending, and bundling operations. The primary focus is to manage the chain of steel movement and site execution to ensure structural integrity and defect-free concrete pouring in line with project schedules.
SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- BBS Execution: Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and prescribed specifications during the cutting, bending, and bundling operations at the service center using Bar Bending Schedules (BBS).
- Material Management: Supervise the entire chain of steel movement, from receiving raw materials to final delivery. Ensure all materials are processed as per approved BBS and structural drawing requirements.
- Compliance & Safety: Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and with HSE for ensuring safe work practices throughout the fabrication and installation phases.
- Documentation & Billing: Support in the preparation of Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), joint measurements, and the verification of contractor bills.
- Site Supervision: Closely monitor rebar fixing, formwork erection, and concrete pouring activities.
- Quality Control: Ensure that BBS, cover blocks, and vibration procedures are followed properly to avoid structural defects such as honeycombing or voids.
SECTION IV: KEY INTERACTIONS
Internal Stakeholders
- QA/QC Team: Coordination for inspections, material testing, and quality clearance.
- HSE Team: Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maintaining a hazard-free work environment.
- Planning / Billing Department: Providing joint measurements and BBS data for contractor payments and progress tracking.
External Stakeholders
- Contractors / Vendors: Overseeing workmanship, scheduling deliveries, and managing site labor for fixing and shuttering.
- Service Center / Fabricators: Monitoring the cutting and bending process to ensure dimensional accuracy.
SECTION V: KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Knowledge
- Minimum Qualifications: ITI or Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Core Knowledge: Expert understanding of Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), structural drawings, and concrete technology.
Experience
- Years of Experience: Typically 5–15 years based on similar roles.
- Nature of Experience: Practical experience in bar bending, shuttering, and scaffolding operations within large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
