The Opportunity: Design Coordinator – MEP

We are seeking a highly motivated, meticulous, and technically proficient Design Coordinator – MEP to join our expert engineering team in Hyderabad. This pivotal role is specifically designed for a professional with a solid and comprehensive foundation in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, possessing a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 7 years of progressive experience in design coordination within the demanding construction or consulting engineering industry. As a Design Coordinator – MEP, you will be instrumental in bridging the critical gap between intricate design concepts and practical, on-site execution, ensuring the seamless integration and optimal performance of all MEP systems with architectural, structural, and other specialist elements. Your expertise will be absolutely crucial in maintaining design integrity, optimizing constructability, identifying potential risks, and upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout the entire project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:

• MEP Design Coordination: Actively and meticulously coordinate MEP designs with architectural, structural, and other specialist disciplines to ensure full integration, identify potential conflicts, and proactively avoid clashes. This involves a thorough and systematic review of all relevant drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Clash Detection & Resolution: Expertly utilize advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage) to perform comprehensive clash detection, identify potential spatial and functional conflicts, and proactively facilitate their efficient resolution with relevant design teams, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Technical Review & Compliance: Conduct thorough and critical reviews of MEP drawings, specifications, and submittals received from external consultants and contractors to ensure strict adherence to project requirements, established industry standards, and all applicable local and international building codes and regulations.
• Communication & Collaboration: Serve as a central and authoritative point of contact for all MEP design-related queries and issues, facilitating effective, clear, and concise communication and fostering robust collaboration between internal project teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and highly organized documentation of all MEP design coordination activities, including detailed meeting minutes, Request for Information (RFI) logs, submittal registers, design review comments, and change orders.
• Value Engineering & Constructability: Actively participate in value engineering exercises and constructability reviews, offering insightful recommendations to optimize MEP system performance, enhance cost-efficiency, and improve ease of installation and maintenance without compromising design intent or quality.
• RFI & Submittal Process Management: Efficiently manage the Request for Information (RFI) and submittal processes for all MEP components and systems, ensuring timely responses, approvals, and tracking to maintain critical project schedules and avoid delays.
• Quality Assurance & Control: Implement, monitor, and enforce rigorous quality assurance and control procedures for all MEP designs and documentation, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required technical standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
• Design Review Meetings: Lead or actively participate in regular design review meetings, effectively presenting coordination findings, discussing proposed solutions, and meticulously documenting all decisions made and actions required.
• Project Support: Provide essential and proactive technical support to Project Managers and Construction Teams on all MEP-related matters, offering expert technical guidance and efficiently resolving site queries pertaining to design and installation.
• Software Proficiency: Leverage advanced proficiency in BIM and CAD software to create, modify, analyze, and review complex MEP models and drawings, significantly enhancing coordination efficiency, accuracy, and visualization.
• Standard Adherence: Ensure all MEP designs and proposed installations strictly comply with relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or a closely related engineering field from an accredited institution.
• A proven track record of 3 to 7 years of dedicated and progressive experience in MEP design coordination, preferably within large-scale commercial, high-rise residential, industrial, or mixed-use projects.
• Demonstrable expertise and a strong understanding of all major MEP systems, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical power distribution, lighting, low-voltage systems, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.
• Advanced proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage for 3D modeling, comprehensive clash detection, and effective coordination workflows.
• Strong command of CAD software, particularly AutoCAD, for 2D drafting, detailing, and drawing review.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly, concisely, and persuasively to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of fostering strong, collaborative working relationships with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients.
• A keen eye for detail, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and a proactive mindset, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks and deliverables.
• Thorough understanding and practical application of relevant Indian and international building codes, standards, and regulations pertaining to MEP systems.
• Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, adept at managing multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising quality.
